Hotels: Where are all the cool kids staying?
Where are the hottest places to stay right now? We've checked out which hotels all the cool kids are staying at:
Launched as a solo project in London, Soho House quickly became the place to be with the in-crowd and has seen resultant growth across Europe, the US and Asia. Today, endorsed by 60,000 members from the creative industries, and a 30,000+ strong waitlist, the Soho House Group looks to expand into South America. Currently, we're most excited by the brand’s newest establishments, Soho House Mumbai and London's The Ned. The Ned being the first from the brand with a members and non members section; you can even book via Booking.com
There’s a major juxtaposition between ecofriendly and hedonism. Whilst these two concepts are, in theory, worlds apart, 1 Hotels artfully find balance between the two. Designed for comfort using reclaimed materials, with thoughtful touches of nature enveloping every room to bring the outside in. 1 Hotels are conscious of of recycling and sustainability but you’ll find no sacrifice when it come to luxury, gadgets and trend setting - 1’s concierge Tesla epitomises their ethos. Early 2018 saw the opening of a members-only Beach Club, with a motto that speaks to us; 'beach life, hotel service'.
In summary, panoramic views to die for, exquisite surroundings and a social conscience. Eco’s cool with us and this is the place to be for the mindful traveller who enjoys the finer things in life.
Brooklyn today is inherently cool, and if you're going to be spending time out of Manhattan then check out the McCarren Hotel & Pool. Located in the heart of Williamsburg, this where the 'see and be seens' hang out in the heat of New York's summer. Trendsetters are likely to be caught sipping classic cocktails at the lively Rooftop Bar or sunning themselves on the pretty pastel pool deck.
Housed in an old brewery, in the formerly gritty district of Chippendale, The Old Clare Hotel, has been converted with a mix of modern, minimalist and industrial design in mind. In all honesty, Sydney is not usually associated with fashion-forward hotels so The Old Clare, which fuses luxury with trendy design, is definitely a step in the right direction in the style stakes downunder.
The Hamptons is, and likely always will be, cool with the New York elite. If you’re prepared to go the extra mile, you’ll reach Montauk on the far eastern tip of the spit where everything is just that little bit more exclusive. Exclusivity goes hand in hand with luxury, but not always with 'cool'. However, Gurney’s Resort, located on the most pristine stretch of oceanfront is a Hamptons icon, and hits the mark from all angles. Their beach club is without doubt the place to be in the height of summer season and our favourite time to go is during the ‘Summer of Wellth’; a wellness festival in conjunction with some of the cities hottest workouts.
The once shunned district of Pigalle, Paris, is historically notorious for unsavoury practices of the red light district. The neighbourhood is edgy and has always attracted bad boys and artists, musicians and adventurers. Today it’s home to cool Parisian café culture, some of the capital’s trendiest nightlife, and to Le Pigalle, an authentic neighbourhood hotel who's history was shaped by the cultural mix that swirls on the southern slopes of Montmartre. Staying true to its neighbourhood roots, the hotel is proud to support local establishments, so you can always guarantee you’ll be met with the freshest of pain au chocolat for petit déjeuner.
